How search results are ranked
This explains the order of jobs in GoodPeople search results, including which jobs are sponsored.
Sponsored jobs come first on each page
Some jobs are posted directly on GoodPeople by employers who pay for the listing. These jobs are labeled Sponsored wherever they appear in search results.
- Each page of results opens with up to five sponsored jobs that match your search and filters.
- This applies to every sort order, including Recommended, Most recent, and Highest salary.
- Within the sponsored jobs, GoodPeople may give some jobs a higher priority, which places them earlier. Otherwise they follow the sort order you chose.
- If there are not enough other jobs to fill a page, the rest of the page can show more sponsored jobs.
Other jobs follow the sort order you chose
After the sponsored jobs, the rest of the page lists other jobs that match your search, in the order you chose. These jobs are not boosted or reordered for payment.
- Recommended
- Jobs whose titles best match your search words come first. Without search words, or when jobs match equally well, more recently updated jobs come first.
- Most recent
- The most recently updated jobs come first.
- Highest salary
- Jobs with the highest listed pay in US dollars come first. Jobs without pay in US dollars come after them.
Shared jobs
When you open a link to a specific job, that job is shown first on the first page of results. Its place there is not paid for, so it is never labeled Sponsored.
Duplicate listings
When a sponsored job is also listed through the employer's applicant tracking system, we show the job only once, as the sponsored listing.
