This Code of Conduct helps ensure that Goodpeople remains a welcoming, respectful, and valuable space for everyone. By participating in our community, you're agreeing to follow these guidelines and contribute to the positive culture we're building together.

Confidentiality & Privacy
Protecting Member Privacy
- Resumes and personal information shared by community members are confidential - you may not share them unless you have explicit permission from the member or an admin
- Member information (names, contact details, identities) may only be shared if you have permission from the member directly or from an admin
- Content from the Goodpeople community can be shared externally, but you must credit the Goodpeople community as the source
- Do not repurpose content as your own if you did not create it - always give proper attribution
- Screenshots or conversations can be shared as long as you credit Goodpeople and respect member privacy (don't share personal/identifying information without permission)
- Members are not required to use their real names or share identifying information if they prefer not to
- All content shared in Goodpeople is owned by Goodpeople and may not be reused or sold without permission
- Violation of member privacy or content ownership may result in immediate removal from the community
Expected Behavior
We expect all members to:
- Treat all community members with respect, kindness, and empathy
- Use inclusive language and respect people's names, pronouns, and identities
- Listen actively and engage thoughtfully in discussions
- Assume good intent and approach disagreements with grace
- Be mindful of the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives in our community
- Support and encourage fellow members
- Report concerns to moderators promptly
Unacceptable Behavior
The following behaviors will not be tolerated:
Discrimination & Harassment
- Racism, sexism, classism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any other form of discrimination
- Harassment, bullying, or intimidation of any kind
- Unwelcome sexual attention, advances, or comments
- Deliberate misgendering or use of dead names
- Microaggressions or dismissive comments about someone's identity or experiences
Disruptive Behavior
- Trolling, inflammatory comments, or personal attacks
- Sustained disruption of conversations or channels
- Posting in the wrong channels or ignoring channel purposes (especially #jobs- channels)
- Spamming or excessive self-promotion
- Cold pitching services via Direct Message without pre-approval
- Self-promotion of services without prior approval from Suzy
- Pushing extreme political, religious, or ideological agendas
- Engaging in bad faith arguments
- Sharing misinformation or conspiracy theories
- Publishing others' private information without consent (doxxing)
- Sharing member personal information or resumes without permission from the member or admin
- Repurposing community content as your own without proper attribution
Harmful Content
- Hate speech or advocacy of discrimination
- Violent, threatening, or graphic content
- Sexual or sexually suggestive content
- Content promoting self-harm or dangerous behaviors
- Illegal activity or solicitation
Professional Boundaries
- Unsolicited advice or "fixing" behavior, particularly around mental health or personal struggles
- Informal counseling by those not professionally trained
- Recruitment for multi-level marketing (MLM) or pyramid schemes
- Aggressive job recruiting without permission from moderators
Channel Usage & Self-Promotion
- #jobs- channels are exclusively for posting job opportunities** - no self-promotion or personal services
- Members can share job opportunities they come across, as well as positions they are directly hiring for
- If you are a hiring manager or recruiter posting a position you're directly hiring for, you must include:
- Job title
- Salary range
- Link to job description
- Location (remote/hybrid/in-office and city/state)
- Recommended but not required: Company website, benefits overview, and brief role summary
- Use channels for their designated purposes - read channel descriptions before posting
- Self-promotion of personal services is not allowed unless pre-approved by Suzy (admin) via Direct Message or email at suzy@goodpeoplejobs.com
- If you'd like to request a new channel to be added, post in #6_request-a-feature
- Off-topic posts may be moved or removed by moderators
Community Guidelines
Engagement & Listening
- Practice active listening before responding
- Consider restating what someone said before replying: "What I'm hearing is..."
- Make space for quieter voices
- Don't dominate conversations or repeatedly center your own experience
Respect for Beliefs & Experiences
- Honor the diversity of political views, religious perspectives, and life experiences in our community
- Engage in respectful dialogue even when you disagree
- Challenge ideas thoughtfully without attacking individuals or dismissing their experiences
- Avoid using the community as a platform to push extreme political, religious, or ideological agendas
- Recognize that members come from diverse backgrounds and belief systems
- Keep discussions constructive and focused on mutual understanding rather than "winning" arguments
- Avoid phrases like "everything happens for a reason" that may be harmful to those who have experienced trauma
Mental Health & Crisis Support
- If you're experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to professional resources:

- Community members should offer empathy and support, not attempt to provide therapy or medical advice
Conflict Resolution
- Address conflicts directly and respectfully when possible
- If a conflict continues without resolution, contact a moderator for mediation
- Approach conflicts with curiosity and a willingness to understand different perspectives
- Recognize that disagreement doesn't mean disrespect
Reporting & Enforcement
How to Report
If you experience or witness a violation of this Code of Conduct:
- Contact a moderator directly via Direct Message
- Email Suzy (admin) at suzy@goodpeoplejobs.com
Please include:
- What happened (specific behaviors or statements)
- When it occurred (date/time and channel if applicable)
- Who was involved (usernames)
- Any screenshots or relevant context
- Whether you've already addressed the issue directly
All reports will be kept confidential and taken seriously.
Our Response Process
- Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge your report within 24 hours
- Investigation: We will review the situation and gather relevant information
- Action: We will take appropriate action based on the severity and context
- Follow up: We will follow up with you about the resolution
Possible Consequences
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, consequences may include:
- Warning: A private conversation about the behavior and expectations
- Temporary suspension: Removal from the community for a specified period
- Permanent removal: Permanent ban from the goodpeople community
- Reporting to authorities: In cases of illegal activity or imminent danger
We prioritize the safety and wellbeing of our community, particularly our most vulnerable members.
Moderator Responsibilities
Moderators are expected to:
- Model the behavior outlined in this Code of Conduct
- Respond to reports promptly and fairly
- Maintain confidentiality
- Recuse themselves from situations where they have a conflict of interest
- Not engage in romantic or sexual relationships with community members (unless pre-existing or disclosed to admins and moderators)
- Continuously educate themselves on inclusive community management
Accessibility & Accommodations
We are committed to making our community accessible to all members. If you need accommodations to participate fully, please contact a moderator. This might include:
- Content warnings for potentially triggering topics
- Alternative formats for community resources
- Other accessibility needs
Amendments
This Code of Conduct is a living document and may be updated periodically to reflect the evolving needs of our community. All members will be notified of significant changes.
Account Management
- Your account will remain active unless you request deletion
- To delete your account, email Suzy (admin) at suzy@goodpeoplejobs.com
- Inactive accounts may be periodically reviewed but are not automatically removed
